Can dogs eat salmon?
Safe
Yes, fully cooked and boneless. Never raw or undercooked.
Also searched as: cooked salmon, fish
Fully cooked, boneless salmon is an excellent source of protein and healthy fat. AKC warns that raw or undercooked salmon can carry parasites and bacteria that make dogs extremely sick, and that smoked salmon and lox are too salty to share.
How to serve it
Cook the fish fully, let it cool, and remove every bone. Serve plain, and do not share smoked salmon or lox.
When to call a vet
Any new food can upset a dog's stomach. If your dog seems unwell after eating salmon, or you are unsure, contact your vet.

raw or undercooked salmon can carry parasites and bacteria that can make dogs extremely sick
Fully cooked and deboned salmon is an excellent source of protein and healthy fat.
Smoked salmon or lox aren't good choices for sharing with dogs due to their high salt content and low-heat preparation methods.
