Can dogs eat chicken?
Safe
Yes, plain and cooked. Not raw, and not seasoned.
Also searched as: cooked chicken, roast chicken, chicken breast
Cooked chicken is a good source of protein. AKC says unseasoned roasted, poached, grilled or baked chicken is fine, and that most sources recommend against raw chicken because of the risk of salmonella or bacterial infections.
How to serve it
Serve fully cooked chicken, plain and unseasoned, with no onion or garlic. Never give cooked bones.
When to call a vet
Any new food can upset a dog's stomach. If your dog seems unwell after eating chicken, or you are unsure, contact your vet.
